Putting Purpose to Work at Insight
In this episode of the HR Leaders podcast, I'm joined by my guest Jen Vasin, Senior Vice President, Human Resources at Insight.
After earning her bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University (ASU), she went to work for America West Airlines as a flight attendant. Not only did she soar physically, but she learned how organizations work and discovered her knack for managing teams. She became an HR leader and went on to earn her Master of Business Administration degree from ASU.
After 9/11, Jen wanted to be more grounded, so she joined Calence and led HR through growth from 80 employees to more than 500. Insight acquired the company in 2008, and Jen’s career continued to climb. She took on increasingly more responsibility at Insight, and was promoted to vice president of HR in 2012. Today, Jen leads the Insight human resources team in North America and the Philippines, representing more than 9,100 teammates.
"My top advice to teammates is to choose culture over any element of employment, because culture is most impactful to your happiness and to the success of any organization."
Jen shares Insight’s core values of hunger, heart and harmony with teammates. She is a leader in Insight’s philanthropic endeavors, including the Reach program, whose mission is to connect children with technology through in-market giving to the communities in which Insight operates.
Under Jen’s tenure, Insight founded the In It Together Foundation, which serves teammates in times of crisis and is jointly funded by teammates and Insight. Also under Jen’s leadership, Insight has been listed several times on the Phoenix Business Journal’s Best Places to Work and was awarded a spot on the Fortune 100 Best Workplaces for Diversity in 2018 and 2019.
